Allotments The Council owns three sites which are very well used. The day to day running is overseen by the Mirfield Allotments Society. For details contact their Sec. The Secretary of the Mirfield Allotments Society
Christmas Lights Each year the Council funds the Town Christmas Lights display
Civic Service Each year the Council holds a Civic Sevice at a Mirfield Church See press for details
Clocks The Council sets aside funds to help pay for the annual maintenance of Town clocks
Community Events The Council helps to fund music concerts in the Town. Brass Band, Choral and Classical music have been supported in the recent past See local press and this website for info.
Community Grants The Council sets aside money from the precept to help local community groups to fund their projects. Over £5,000 is available each year. Schools, Sports Groups, Churchs and Community Associations have been past recipients. Application forms are available from the Council Office
Hanging Baskets Each year the Council arranges for the hanging baskets and flowers that make such a great display each year 
Mirfield Matters Having conducted a survey on what Mirfield residents want to see in their Town the Council has set up working groups to promote these views. The planned Multi-User Sports facility is one of its successes
Planning The Plans Scrutiny Committee meets every 2nd Wednesday each month to inspect all current planning applications and to make representations to the Kirklees Council planners. Members of the public are able to attend these meetings and make their views known. Details of the plans to be discussed are on display in the Council office window 7 days prior to the meeting. Planning Support The Council will fund expert planning advice to resist major planning applications that are seen to be non-beneficial to our Town. Housing on Balserston fields and Mirfield 25 are examples The Chairman of the F&GP Committee at the Council office
Public Footpaths The Council Plans Committee have taken on the task of being the contact point for liason with Kirklees Highways Department to sort out any problems on our footpath network canal towpaths and the Green Way.
Remembrance Services The Council works with the British Legion to fund and arrange the sevices each November.
Seating The Council has and will continue to fund the provision of public seating around the Town. The Administrator at the Council offices
