Biography

Having lived in Leeds for 30 years I moved to Mirfield some 20 years ago when I brought a house in Northorpe. Whilst living in Leeds I became interested in Politics and served as a Councillor on Leeds City Council for 15 years.

My main interests were Planning and Environmental Health and as well as these I also led the Committee that introduced the new computer system, which runs all the Council's activities.

When I left Leeds I was hoping to have a rest from Politics but this was not to be. Within a few short weeks I was roped in by the Mirfield Conservatives and I have been captive ever since. I have served three terms as a Mirfield Town Councillor and during this time I have chaired both the Planning and the Finance Committees as well as being a member of the Allotments Working Party.

I have two political heroes, Robert Peel who was the founder of modern Conservative thinking (people should be allowed to live their own lives in their own way providing that it has no negative effects on their fellow men). The second one is Maggie Thatcher who enshrined that mantra in all her policies. Helping to make things better in and for Mirfield is my sole reason for becoming a Town Councillor.
