I moved from Ravensthorpe to Mirfield in 1974. My four grown up children all attended local schools Beavers,Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides.

Whilst they were young, I along with others realised there was a need in the area for a youth group. We worked with Mirfield West Tennants and Resident Assiociation to set this up. I became Chair person of the Tennants and Residents Association.

I was on the steering commitee to obtain Mirfield Community Centre as the youth group needed larger premises. I then become Booking Secretary for the Centre for many years.

Mirfield Community Centre Committee joined forces with Gearstones and Mirfield Community Trust was formed. I served as a Trustee for sevaral years untill I becoming a Councilor.
